Looking up, still busy

June 26, 2009

The past week has been a lot of fun! Saturday, my friend and I took the ferry from San Francisco to Sausalito, then the shuttle to Muir Woods. Hiked there the afternoon, and took the last ferry back. The view on the ferry was amazing, and so was the shuttle ride. It was a great idea and allowed us to see lots of great sites! And Muir Woods was absolutely beautiful. The National Monument is set up for tourists, with a boardwalk and bridges, wheelchair accessible, frequent informational sessions. Then you can wander out to the many paths of Mount Tamalpais, all the way up the hill and with views of the ocean and the bay. It was absolutely breathtaking. We hiked around 4 hours. It was great.

Sunday, I went downtown and went shopping for my personal birthday presents. I got some new clothes, bath things, ice cream. Was really nice.

On my birthday, my friend organized a surprise dinner party at this cool asian fusion lounge place with live DJ. Was tasty and a lot of fun.

Last night, there was this happy hour thing, was OK. At least the food was good.

Other than this, work has been stressful. Not much success with patient recruitment, for some reason. Frustrating situation. Most of my month, aside from the usual work activities, has been spent putting together this grant.  I feel like I have put so much time into this, if I don’t get funded for this project, it will be such a waste of time. Would have been better off taking June off or something. We can only hope.

Next year, I’ve been assigned to TA the toughest and most hated course in the program. Looking forward to being a hated TA. (Not.)

That’s it for now, aside from watching a lot of news about the loss of MJ and FF yesterday.
