Fun weekend

April 19, 2009

Well, after all that worry about having too much to do this weekend, I think I managed to get it all done with time to spare to have a really enjoyable weekend. I got all my homework done by Friday night. And pretty much got my talk done between doing things this weekend. Mom is here and is leaving on Tuesday, so I wanted to spend time with her.

Saturday, after going into work to get something done,  we went downtown and did some shopping. I got some shoes and clothing. Had a “Cookie Doughn’t You Want It” in “Like It” size (what strange names, and yet so tasty). Had supper at one of my favorite places with a wood-burning oven. Delicious mussels, mushroom pizza, and trout cooked on a plank.

Sunday, after a lazy morning washing clothes and cleaning out the vacuum cleaner, we went to Japan town to watch the parade and festivities. It was ridiculously hot and humid and sunny. My mom got her first ever sunburn! It was fun. Lots of interesting floats, including George Takei! Yatta! And food, and free stuff. A good looking guy at the SF Giants booth helped me open my drink (that I had gotten free earlier somewhere else). And three dudes acted silly like school girls at some other booth. One was blowing this paper toy thing and it fell over in front of me. I picked it up for them. Honestly I have no idea what they were giggling over. Anyway. We bought some food at the stands. Got some free stuff turning wheels and winning them. Ended up stopping by a japanese supermarket to get stuff for making sushi at home. After stopping at home to rehydrate and cool off, we went to a thai restaurant for supper. Delicious!

All in all, a successful weekend.
