Leaving on a jet plane

April 8, 2005

Got that song in my head, the version by Chantal Kreviazuk in particular. I’m all packed now, I hope. I’m still sad to go, but really I should be excited. The trip should be really fun. It really should. With all the stuff planned it should be a blast. And besides, it’s only a week, so I’ll be back. And it’ll all be worth it.

(Who else is thinking I’m way too dramatic? In person I’m all calm and collected and rational, but I think I might just be a closet histrionic.)

Oh, and I just realized that I don’t post about the Asian-style dishes I cook. Why is that? Today I made a Chinese dish of okra and beef, made with chinese okra, beef strips (marinated in rosemary, bay leaf, pepper, soy sauce, ginger, garlic, and honey), and a chinese fungus/mushroom thing. Sorta stirfry. Pretty good. Had that for supper along with some button mushrooms (stirfried in olive oil, butter, garlic, and black pepper) and rice. See? I cook Asian too.
